Sukkot Day 2
Good morning! Today is day 2 of Sukkot. It is another rest day, and another day of my rest with COVID. For me, Sukkot this year will be connected with COVID. I am reflecting on that symbolism.
Something rolling around in my brain and heart is the idea of love connected to dissent. How do we navigate dissent within the context of love?
The idea of dissent comes back to the meaning: “The expression or holding of opinions at variance with those previously, commonly, or officially held.”
I think some times dissent comes across as “correction.” The definition here is interesting; “A change that rectifies an error or inaccuracy.”
The question becomes – how do we communicate (or hold space for OTHERS to communicate) dissent without interpreting it as correction?
Thoughts?
Here’s my commentary on day 2 of Sukkot from last year:

Day 2 of Sukkot!
Chag Sameach! I hope you are having a fun and meaningful Sukkot! As we take what we’ve learned this past year and put it into practice, may you see fruit from your internal work!
Today is day 2 of Sukkot, so the Torah portion remains unchanged.
Today, however, I want to focus on something for Sukkot. One of the pieces we are to bring each day on Sukkot is fire.
And I immediately reflect on our fire within. Are we on fire? Do we have passion? Do we want to light the world around us in Love?
This is the question on my mind this morning. I’d love your thoughts!
