Tyler’s Torah Thoughts for 26 Nisan, 5785
Day 11 of the Omer

Today we explore the “Endurance of Discipline.”

From a year ago;

We are called to endure over time the discipline of the Universe. We can flow through and keep going when the Universe puts roadblocks in our way to our destination – and we can flow in the current and trust we will get to where we need to go?

It is one thing to be focused. It is another to keep that focus over time. There is a lot in our paths to distract us each day. The question becomes – how do we engage with our external reality? Do we allow ourselves to take that energy and remain in our focus? Or do we take that energy and get side tracked? The idea that we are looking to climb a mountain can be daunting.

How do we remain disciplined to get to the top of the mountain? First? What if we are ALREADY on top of the mountain in this moment? What if we looked back and saw how far we’ve already climbed? Would that make it easier to keep going? Second; what if there was no “top” of the mountain? What if what we envision the top being? Just a future moment because we are time travelers and have a vision of that future – and want to be in THAT moment? And the gap between where we WANT to be and where we ARE? It’s overwhelming.

When in that space of feeling overwhelmed? All we can do is look down at our feet, focus on the ONE step in front of us. That is it. That’s all it is. I can’t time travel to that point in time – I can merely put one foot in front of the other and be disciplined to take that next step.
