It’s really interesting. I am thinking a lot about time. And how we measure it. Today is my birthday. According to one way we measure time that is universally acceptable. I was born on April 12, 1972 around 8am eastern time.

However, according to the Hebrew calendar, I was born on the 28th of Nisan, in the year 5732. That won’t happen until a week from now.

And. Right now. It is April 12th. But somewhere else at this exact moment? It isn’t April 12th. In Hawaii, as I write this, it’s still April 11th.

Time is arbitrary. All that matters is this moment. And we can’t measure this moment with time. It’s a moment. It’s reality. And regardless of how we measure the time, we should be in this moment.

Where I am, it is the 6th day of the Omer. The theme today is “bonding of love.” Or “yesod of Chesed”

“For love to be eternal it requires bonding. A sense of togetherness which actualizes the love in a joint effort. An intimate connection, kinship and attachment, benefiting both parties. This bonding bears fruit; the fruit born out of a healthy union.

Exercise for the day: Start building something constructive together with a loved one.”

So. My birthday wish for today? Each of us will start building something constructive together with our loved ones. Because what we’ve done before this moment? It’s no longer real. Just like everyone experiences time differently? Everyone experiences moments differently. Just be in the moment. Together.
