Tyler’s Torah Thoughts for 4 Sivan, 5783.
48th Day of the Omer.
Today’s Omer theme is “Yesod of Malchut” which means the “bonding of Sovereignty.”
From Chabad:
Examine the bonding aspect of your sovereignty. Healthy independence should not prevent you from bonding with another person. On the contrary: self-confidence allows you to respect and trust another’s sovereignty and ultimately bond with him. And that bond will strengthen your own sovereignty, rather than sacrifice it.
Does my sovereignty prevent me from bonding? Could that be because of deeper insecurities that I am unaware of? Do I recognize the fact that a fear of bonding reflects on lack of self-confidence in my own sovereignty? Do I talk to the one with whom I bond and discuss my fears that bonding will compromise my boundaries?
Exercise for the day: Actualize your sovereignty by intensifying your bond with a close one.
This. So much this. How much of my insecurities (that I am unaware of) prevent me from truly bonding out of my independence? How much do I sacrifice of my authentic self in order to bond with someone? How much do I capitulate to keep the peace of a bond with someone?
True sovereignty is able to bond with someone else.
However, boundaries are a part of sovereignty. Do our bonds with others strengthen the sovereignty we have within? Do we feel MORE authentic being around those we are bonded with? This is an important question as we head into our final days before Shavuot and we are ready to receive the Direction of the Torah. What direction are we going to be given on Thursday night into Friday? Keep an open heart to see where this all goes.
What are your thoughts?
