Tyler’s Torah Thoughts for 5 Sivan, 5783

49th Day of the Omer!

We did it! We made it through all 49 days of the Omer!

As we approach Shavuot tonight – we have one last thing to dwell and focus on. Today is “Malchut of Malchut” the Sovereignty of Sovereignty.  Let’s see what Chabad has to say:

Examine the sovereignty of your sovereignty. Does it come from deep- rooted inner confidence in myself? Or is it just a put-on to mask my insecurities? Does that cause my sovereignty to be excessive? Am I aware of my uniqueness as a person? Of my personal contribution?

Exercise for the day: Take a moment and concentrate on yourself, on your true inner self, not on your performance and how you project to others; and be at peace with yourself knowing that G‑d created a very special person which is you.

Today is a day to reflect on who we really are.  The past 48 days have all been components of our nature and self.  Today is really the final question.  Who are we? Who is in charge of us?

Who do we want to be? In this moment, what can I do with the next 60 seconds to get me more with who I want to be?

What is my purpose? What is my mission? Why am I here?  Who decided that? Or who decides that? Does it change moment to moment?

These are all questions today’s Omer has me reflecting on.  And tonight? We begin to receive answers.

We receive the Torah.  Life. Direction. Gifts.

In a life filled with so many unanswered questions, so many we tend to numb ourselves to these questions through addiction, or distract ourselves through entertainment.  Tonight we have the opportunity to engage. To be courageous to ask the questions.  And listen for answers.

Sovereignty. Torah.

Relationship.  The Torah can be many things to many people. It can be a handcuff. It can be oppression. It can be a prison. It can be relationship. It can be ways to connect with ourselves and the universe around us. It can be love. It can be liberation.

The only variable is us.

How will you receive the Torah tonight? Will you receive the Torah tonight?

These are my thought.  What are yours?
